Features

The Box: HD + Hilton’s
 Design Competition

The Box is back. Hilton’s one-of-a-kind design challenge returns to HD Expo + Conference 2021. In partnership with Hospitality Design, Hilton’s Box competition is all about iterating the next-generation lifestyle hotel guestroom. Here’s how it worked: In 2019, in just 24 hours, using products from supporting sponsors (we can’t do this alone!), leading hospitality design firms competed to create a compelling guestroom design and win the juried contest. The prize: A full-scale guestroom buildout featured on the Expo floor. Urban Robot Associates took home top honors for their indoor-outdoor design inspired by the sophisticated, yet natural, eclecticism of locations such as Tulum, Mexico. It’s a must visit.

New in 2021:
HD Park

If experience and authenticity drive our market, then outdoor tented camps and glamping resorts lead the charge—creating immersive, extraordinary, one-with-nature excursions for travelers looking for something beyond traditional hotels. We decided to recreate a bit of that magic with HD Park. Consider it a find-your-happy-place indoor experiment. It will also serve as the home to all of HD Expo’s CEU conference sessions (yes, we moved them from the meeting rooms a mile away!). Connect with clients and colleagues, get inspired by the panels led by industry veterans and rising stars (don’t forget to register), or grab a quick bite to eat. (You’re welcome.)

The Design
Well Pavilion

The DesignWell Pavilion in the expo hall has proven to be magnetically popular for good reason. Industry projections show the wellness market could reach $1 trillion by 2022. And thanks to COVID-19, health and wellness are more critical than ever to hospitality’s success and future. Hear how brands are integrating wellness and sustainability into their projects and products, and explore innovation from upstarts and legacy leaders alike as they look to redefine the market.

HD
Social Hub

Hospitality Design magazine invites you to relax, recharge, and reconnect at its homebase on the show floor. Crafted by the team behind 21C Museum Hotels, the HD Social Hub combines lounge and stage, featuring ample hangout space and various talks throughout the day on wide-ranging topics—from how to make a difference in hospitality to expanding a practice internationally. It’s conversational brainfood—at times transformational. Come grab a drink and take it all in.

HD
Conference

Hospitality Design magazine curates experts and innovators, keynotes and ones to watch, to create a conference worthy of a single goal: Idea-sharing that impacts hospitality. Across three conference gathering spaces on the show floor, HD offers talent and voices worth hearing and topics worth exploring. Think real-life hangouts, meetups, masterclasses, conversations, town hall, and expert case studies. As we move forward and rebuild, the power of education has never been been more important.
